| I have
wanted to be an artist since my early childhood and I have been a student
of light, and its many manifestations for the greater part of my adult
life. I became enamored by the paintings Mark Rothko, Mondrian and Joseph
Albers. |
| It
was in Albers that light became a science and the pursuit was
optics.
All
during this time I was a poet and the idea that I could be both
visual and verbal was a constant challenge. I was encouraged by a friend
to try digital imaging and what followed was an immensely experience. It
was like learning to walk all over again and I was overwhelmed. As I progressed
I realized that I was being afforded opportunities no master in prior times
could have even conceived of.
In
the same way the ‘montage’ is used to describe film editing
that is done poetically, I sense that my images blend motion and color.
Many of them await a musical score and stand ready to blend with a new
harmonic.
They
are expressions of joy and are ready to reveal themselves to
people of any age or persuasion.

The works of Thomas Vorce
are as many steps in his search for the light, a search for the origin
of shining and of unsurpassed purity in movement and colour, caught by
the limitations of technique in poetic digital images.
