October 2004 - Mª Angeles Sánchez Buendía
|
This month, Artpoints presents
a young Murcian artist, Mª Angeles Sánchez Buendía,
who in her relatively short career has already shown to possess a personality
and creativity of her own. We want to draw your attention specially on
her series of nudes, very beautifull in their simplicity and which, although
they are in black and white, don't lose any bit of life. Take your time
to look at themand yuou'll discover this quietness, thisserene beauty that
doen't bother with canons. It is , simply, woman in all her essence and
maturity.
Also, mention the series
of children, of an enchanting candidness.
A.
Buendía has received various awards in the Murcian region,
as for example the first Award of natural painting of Mazarrón,
selection in the Párraga Contest, sponsored by Caja Murcia. Outside
of this region we can distinguish the third award in the national contest
of young artists of Cádiz. |

What
do you see when in the middle of the night the decors that surround you
aren't at hand? When your furniture, your jewels and your clothes do not
exist? When those who love you and that you love are not there? You are
alone... What do you see? Your nudity.
This
is the vision the is offered about the nudity of the female body, where
despite its fragility and its erotism, most of all, its beauty is emphasized.

With courage, daring and
a strong movement of the brush, this young artist paints her monumental
figures using very measured tonalities. What now still is an early search,
will to my opinion and if she continues on this path, no doubt become a
very own pictorical universe with a very personal style. The insisiting
figurative lines of her figures, almost converts them into tridimensional
sculptures with great expressive strength, that remind us of the sculptor
Moore or the painter Botero. Her actual works can already be distinguished
of their own and leave us expectant and impatient to see her evolution
and future work.
