exhibitions in Sweden, Holland, France and Guinea. Her works can be foud

of the Art Museum of Västeras and the National Modern Art Funds but
also in the collections of the popular movement in Sweden. |
At first
sight an abstract work, almost a synthesis of the abstract, in regard to
form and colour. A little patience,... curiosity...the work opens itself
and then come out the myths of the passing time and the space of our dreams.
The flowing of our lives caught in one moment, and nonetheless it keeps
flowing.
Look, this I call art for
the people, in which they can reckognize themselves, the proper space of
their own lives, one with the flowing of time for a moment through the
work, and continue dreaming...

| We present a part of her
series Lines between Land and Water, landscapes on the border of
the river Torneå.
Lars Helander, producer of
cultural Programmes on Swedish TV, says about her: "Myths. How are myths
born? By mating the knowledge of everyday secrets with the intelligence
contained in the magic craftmanship of art. If you're lucky, something
supernatural is born which reveals the most important truths; the unexpected.
These truths are called myths.
Maj-Siri Österling
has, for a long time been
making images and worlds of such truths. Do old reindeer hides brought
again to life retell the forgotten sagas? Do particular formations of islets,
of water courses or perhaps melodies of colour construct other knowledge
not dreamt of?
Yes, she has used many different
motifs to create artistic and cosmic codes - but so clear that they help
us to decipher our own secrets. ..
Maj-Siri Osterling has made
her own Pata in the Valley of Torneå, with lines red as the blood
of the heart and the embers of memory. Acute and sharpened, dangerous for
fish and still more for men.May carefulness guide your steps on "the pata".
With its meshs silvery as the scales of the salmon felecting the sky, the
nets are thrown.
Let full play to the forms
and colours of Maj-Siri and open your heart. But be forewarned - this is
the birth of myth - if you want it to be.
