ARTPOINTS
Maybe you remember that couple that hung an artwork in the Guggenheim Museum to protest against the criteria with which artworks were valued.
Instead of entering the old discussion about the market value versus the artistic value of the artworks, we want to present a proyect who's aim is to create an alternative space for the exhibition of artworks outside the galleries: Art Points.

What is it about?
Basically, it consist of organizing exhibition and promotion of artworks of different international artists through non-stop exhibitions in different places, the art points. An art point can be whichever public space, a hotel, a cafeteria, a restaurant, a shop or even a hairdresser. Any place is valid, if it is visited by a public potentially interested in art.

Actually in:
Cafe La Cuna, Elche

In what is it different from the galleries?
The philosophie of the Artpoints is to present art to a wide public, on the one hand, and to support free expression of the artists, on the other. This last point can be expressed in a more provocative way: to break the monopoly of the galleries and of the art elite, to make the the aspect of "saleability" lose importance and to give more protagonism to purely artistic aspects. The whole activity is organized without an aim of profit.

We've had some problems to see the images, but in truth, we don't know if that's due to our connection or wether it is a problem of the website.

Kai Engels is the one that starts the activities on a practical level.
